Ooru Peru Bhairavakona, starring Sundeep Kishan, generated positive buzz in the audience with its hit songs and visually captivating trailer. The female leads in VI Anand’s fantasy drama are Varsha Bollamma and Kavya Thapar. The producers chose early premieres because they were fully confident in the final product. Let’s examine the movie.
Story
Sundeep Kishan’s character Basava is a stunt double in motion pictures. He steals the jewelry from a marriage since he is quite poor. John, a friend of Basava’s, is with him (Viva Harsha). Basava and John spot Agraharam Geetha (Kavya Thapar), who has had an accident, as they attempt to flee from the police. They decide to assist Geetha and drive her along. When Basava, John, and Geetha arrive at Bhairavakona, a mystical location, they begin to encounter odd phenomena. What do they consist of? Why did Basava start stealing jewelry? What is the relationship between Bhoomi (Varsha Bollamma) and Basava? What mystery surrounds Bhairavakona? The main idea of the narrative is this.
Extra Credits
One actor who frequently tries his hand at different genres of movies is Sundeep Kishan, who has once again opted for a different picture with Ooru Peru Bhairavakona. Sundeep Kishan’s depiction of Basava is authentic. The actor delivers the dialogue with perfect body language, mannerisms, and body language, and his efforts are obvious. Sundeep and Viva Harsha have some excellent scenes together.
With most of the screen time to herself, Kavya Thapar fulfills her role expectations. She had a strong presence in the comedic scenes and looked great on TV. Varsha Bollamma performed admirably, but her character has been let down by the weak writing.
Sundeep Kishan and the group insisted throughout the film’s advertising that there would be plenty of humor in the picture. Justifiably, several humorous scenes in the movie make you laugh out loud. Vennela Kishore and Viva Harsha are cleverly used, and their one-liners will make you laugh out loud. In particular, Viva Harsha excels in a role that combines innocence with vacuity.
Negative Points
Ooru Peru Bhairavakona is flawed in a lot of ways. The love track, around which the entire film is centered, is the most important thing. It’s difficult to relate to Sundeep Kishan and Varsha Bollamma’s emotions because there aren’t enough moments between them. The lead pair’s pivotal scene/twist reveal in the second half ought to have been dramatic and moving, but the way it was presented here rendered it unimportant. There are two hit songs, but because of where they are in the song list, they don’t enhance the experience.
The first half has some enjoyable moments, but the real story starts at the halfway point. The intermission episode is well done, but its impact is limited by the poor world-building and scene design. Neither of the two halves has any exciting or thrilling moments. The film lacks emotional depth and has a shallow narrative, which makes it rather disappointing overall even though there are some nice, enjoyable moments.
The second half of the film seems to have been shot in a hurry, giving the impression that it ended suddenly. The creators attempted to infuse fantasy, comedy, horror, and suspense aspects into the beaten-to-death premise of the heroine’s past, but they came across as a little forced.
Technical Aspects
Although Shekar Chandra’s songs are beautiful, their poor composition makes them look out of place. The work of the art direction team was excellent, and Raj Thota’s cinematography skillfully caught the rural settings. The second part appears hurried, indicating poor editing. Additionally, the VFX may have been improved.
Once more, Director VI Anand went with a novel idea, however his efforts were not entirely successful. The movie features a few interesting and enjoyable parts, but because of its poor second half and climax, we will only leave the theater with mixed feelings. The suspense, thrills, and emotional aspects are not handled properly.
Verdict
Overall, Ooru Peru Bhairavakona is an ambitious attempt to combine themes of love and imagination, but it comes up short. While the second half is subpar, the first half is passable. Varsha Bollamma, Kavya Thapar, Sundeep Kishan, and Viva Harsha are all excellent in their parts, and the comedic moments keep our attention. The filmmakers attempted to please everyone by fusing different genres, but because of the poor execution, the film ultimately lacked impact. The movie may have been worth seeing if the dramatic and emotional parts had been handled more skillfully. It is therefore recommended to approach Ooru Peru Bhairavakona with modest expectations.
